7 Tips to Boost Your PC Performance Win7

PC Performance Meter
Nothing stays the same as you first bought it which is something we all know, PCs aren't different.
Sure there are reasons why PC degrades over time and everything has a solution for it.
I'm here to show you 7 simple tips that some of them you might know that will increase your PC performance (not in gaming).

1 - Check Your Windows Performance Settings

Windows Performance Settings Win7

Simply right-click on your "Computer" then "Properties" and click "Advanced System Settings".
as shown in the picture disable what you don't want. click "Apply then OK".

Windows Performance Options might not be that great but it will help especially for old PCs.

How it works:
It works by disabling some appearance options in Win7 and it will more likely to have an effect in old PCs so, if your PC is good enough to run Win7 smoothly then you might skip this tip.

2 - Install CCleaner

CCleaner is one of the first programs that you should install on your PC whether it's new or not.
It's one of the first things that I recommend to my friends when they ask me how to improve their PCs' performance.

How it works:
It scans for useless files and simply deletes them which frees up space. It also deletes privacy files like browser history, cookies and cache. It will even go beyond that by deleting cookies in Flash Player.
Deleting unnecessary files frees up some space which makes your PC slightly faster when opening up your Hard Disk.

3 - Defragmentation

Defragmentation Win7

Note:(Defragment only your HDD, don't ever defragment your SSD)

Right-click on the drive you want to defragment, click on (Properties) then (tools) after that click (Defragment now).
Fragmentation is one file that is divided into pieces in the HDD but aren't close to each other making the reading of this file takes longer time. Defragmentation is the opposite of fragmentation it makes the pieces of a single file close together making the reading of this file faster.
Fragmentation occurs when there is new data written on the HDD.

How it works:

Defragmentation puts the pieces of the files together so that it can be read faster. It is recommended to defragment your HDD from 10% fragmentation or above.

4 - Boot Settings

Boot settings won't actually boosts your PC performance but it might help it boots faster. Click on your Win-Icon at the bottom left and search for (System Configuration) then click on (Boot) after that click on (Advanced options) tick (Number of processors) and choose the highest core count available. Now go to (Startup) and uncheck unnecessarily programs that you won't use right after you boot up your PC.

How it works:
It makes all of your processor cores active while booting up and reduces programs that run after the boot up making the PC boots faster.

5 - Buy an SSD
Different Solid State Drives

SSDs will make your life easier and I really think that it's a must to have for everyone looking for good performance. SSD (Solid State Drive) will make loading everything faster,  for example, booting your PC will be much faster or loading screens in games.

How it works:

SSDs have a faster both writing speeds and reading speeds, making it both faster in copying files to it or read the files, For Example, WD blue HDD is about (131mb/s read - 130mb/s write) when we compare it to Samsung Evo 850 its speed is about (490mb/s read - 450mb/s write) that is about 360% the speed of WD HDD which makes things really speedy

6 - Buy more RAM

Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 Ram

RAM might be your problem especially if you have 2 or 4gb of ram, if you are a gamer then you should invest in getting 8gb of ram because it's really becoming the standard especially for gaming. RAM (Random Access Memory) are used to store data that is currently used by your computer like windows, programs, websites, youtube videos, games...etc.

7 - Clean Your PC Case and the Inside (Best for laptops)

If your PC is covered with dust from the inside then it's time to clean it. Dust blocks airflow to your PC and makes it end up really hot and also it looks really gross. Keep in mind that most likely cleaning your PC won't increase your performance in games but in some cases it might.

How it works:
When dust gathers around your PC and its fans it will block airflow and keep the heat which leads to high tempratures that throttles down your performance.
